Shabbat Morning Program at Temple Emanuel  brings students and their families to Temple on Shabbat!

  • Rather than learning ABOUT how to be Jewish on a day unrelated to Judaism we have shifted our program to learning about Judaism in Jewish time.
  • The Third through Eighth Grade program meets Shabbat Mornings from 9:30am -12:30 pm.
  • Pre-Kindergarten – Second Grade Program meets Shabbat Mornings from 10-12:30 pm.
  • Classes meet while our adult community is holding Shabbat Mornings services.
  • Included as part of the school day is a Shabbat Morning Jr. Congregation (half hour service) with prayers, singing and dancing.
  • Third Grade – Seventh Grade students will have an hour and 15 minute session of Judaics using the Union of Reform Judaism's Chai Curriculum and an hour and 15 minute session of Hebrew each week in addition to the half hour junior Congregation.
  • Hebrew is focused on helping our students master the Shabbat morning prayers and prayer reading fluency.  Additionally students will learn basic modern Hebrew vocabulary and grammar.
  • Art is integrated into the academic program.  Our art teacher works closely with each teacher in order to help them enhance their class learning with special projects that relate to the curriculum.
  • Music and Dance are part of the weekly Shabbat morning Junior Congregation.

Leadership/Religious School Aides

Our program allows teens in grades 9-12 to gain leadership experience and skills working with children one-on-one, in a classroom setting, and with special school projects as an aid in the Torah School. Teens make a commitment for the year and are matched up with a particular class to assist the teacher in class projects and day-to-day activities.

If you need financial assistance, please submit a Scholarship Application (please use one form for each student schlolarship requested).
